JELAJAHNEWS.ID – Perdana Menteri Inggris Keir Starmer memberikan sambutan hangat kepada Presiden Ukraina Volodymyr Zelensky dalam pertemuan yang berlangsung sehari setelah Zelensky terlibat cekcok dengan Presiden AS Donald Trump hingga diusir dari Gedung Putih.

Dilansir AFP, Minggu (2/3/2025), pertemuan tersebut berlangsung menjelang konferensi tingkat tinggi di London yang membahas dukungan bagi Ukraina dalam menghadapi agresi Rusia. Starmer menegaskan kembali komitmen Inggris terhadap Kyiv.

“Dalam kemitraan dengan sekutu kami, kami harus meningkatkan persiapan untuk elemen jaminan keamanan Eropa, di samping diskusi berkelanjutan dengan Amerika Serikat,” ujar Starmer dalam pernyataan yang dirilis pada Sabtu (1/3) malam.

“Sekarang saatnya bagi kita untuk bersatu demi menjamin hasil terbaik bagi Ukraina, melindungi keamanan Eropa, dan mengamankan masa depan kolektif kita,” tambahnya.

Sebagai bagian dari dukungan tersebut, Ukraina dan Inggris menandatangani perjanjian pinjaman sebesar GBP 2,26 miliar atau sekitar Rp 47,2 triliun. Dana ini diberikan oleh Inggris untuk memperkuat kemampuan pertahanan Ukraina dan akan dikembalikan menggunakan keuntungan dari aset Rusia yang disita oleh Ukraina.

“Dana ini akan digunakan untuk produksi senjata di Ukraina,” kata Zelensky melalui akun media sosialnya.

“Ini adalah keadilan sejati—orang yang memulai perang harus menjadi orang yang membayar,” tegasnya.

Saat konvoi Zelensky memasuki Downing Street, para pendukung bersorak menyambut kedatangannya. Starmer menyambutnya dengan hangat dan keduanya berpose sebelum melanjutkan pertemuan di kediaman resmi Perdana Menteri Inggris.

“Anda sangat, sangat diterima di Downing Street,” kata Starmer kepada Zelensky.

“Saya ingin mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Anda dan rakyat Inggris atas dukungan besar yang telah diberikan sejak awal perang ini,” balas Zelensky.

Keduanya mengadakan pertemuan tertutup selama sekitar 75 menit sebelum berpisah dengan pelukan. Selain itu, Zelensky dijadwalkan bertemu dengan Raja Charles III pada Minggu (2/3) dan menghadiri pembicaraan darurat di London bersama para pemimpin Eropa yang mendukung Ukraina, termasuk Perdana Menteri Kanada Justin Trudeau.

Sebelumnya, pada Jumat (28/2), Zelensky bertemu dengan Trump di Gedung Putih. Namun, pertemuan tersebut berakhir dengan ketegangan yang menyebabkan gagalnya kesepakatan terkait mineral langka dan berujung pada pengusiran Zelensky dari Gedung Putih.(jn/**)
