JELAJAHNEWS.ID – Pemerintah Provinsi Sumatera Utara (Pemprovsu) melalui Sekretaris Daerah (Sekda) Provinsi Sumatera Utara, Ir. Arief S Trinugroho, MT, didampingi Kepala Dinas Perhubungan (Kadishub) Sumut Dr. Agustinus Panjaitan S.SiT, MT, menerima laporan hasil kajian tahun pertama dari Program Percepatan Transisi Rendah Karbon Inclusive dalam kerangka Program “Transportasi Rendah Karbon Inklusif di Indonesia” UK PACT-Future Cities (United Kingdom – Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions),di Hotel Santika Medan, Selasa (04/07/2023).

Program ini telah memasuki tahun ke-2 dari 3 tahun yang direncanakan. Adapun salah satu produk yang dihasilkan ditahun pertama ini adalah berupa dokumen berupa Guideline Penyiapan Otoritas Transportasi yang terintegrasi (Integrated Transport Authority/ITA).

Dalam sambutannya Sekda Provsu menyampaikan, apresiasi kepada Pemerintah Inggris melalui UK Embassy Jakarta, yang diwakili oleh Tim Stockholm Environment Institute di University of York (UK), Mr. Gary Haq selaku Team Leader dan Mr. Sudheer Kumar Kuppili selaku Research Associate, atas dukungannya kepada Pemerintah Provinsi Sumatera Utara dalam mewujudkan transportasi rendah karbon yang inklusif, khususnya di Kawasan Perkotaan Mebidang.

Sementara itu, Kadishub Sumut, Dr. Agustinus Panjaitan, S.,SiT, MT, yang menjadi Focal Point dalam program tersebut menjelaskan, bahwa Program “UK PACT Indonesia-Inggris” (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) merupakan program hibah dari Pemerintah Inggris, yang berkontribusi pada rencana untuk mengurangi emisi karbon transportasi perkotaan di Kawasan Perkotaan Mebidang, serta memberikan dukungan kepada Pemerintah Sumatera Utara untuk mengembangkan transportasi rendah karbon yang inklusif.

Agustinus Panjaitan menambahkan, bahwa Program UK-PACT Future Cities akan fokus membantu Pemerintah Provinsi dan Kabupaten/kota Mebidang dalam implementasi Program BRT Mebidang yang sedang berjalan, melalui dukungan World Bank dan Kemenhub RI. Tentunya kita sangat terbantu dengan program ini, khususnya dalam mempersiapkan konsep kelembagaan atau institusi pengelolan BRT Mebidang, yang menjadi tanggung jawab Pemerintah Daerah.

Dikatakan Agustinus, berdasarkan data tercatat bahwa sektor transportasi jalan merupakan penyumbang emisi terbesar (90%), dibanding sektor transportasi air (3,7%) dan transportasi udara (6,3%).

“Oleh karenanya upaya penurunan emisi dari sektor transportasi jalan yang menjadi focus kerjasama ini, menjadi hal yang sangat penting dan krusial dalam program UK-PACT Future Cities,” tambah Agustinus Panjaitan.

Ia berharap kegiatan program UK PACT dapat mendukung pembangunan infrastruktur yang baik dan berwawasan lingkungan serta meningkatkan pelayanan sosial kemasyarakatan, secara khusus di Kawasan Perkotaan Mebidang.

Adapun Tim Pelaksana Program UK_PACT, terdiri dari Stockholm Environment Institute di University of York (UK) yang bekerja sama dengan United Nations Environment Program (Nairobi, Kenya/Bangkok,Thailand), Clean Air Asia (Manila, Filipina/Jakarta, Indonesia) dan Center for Studi Transportasi dan Logistik (Pustral) Universitas Gadjah Mada (Yogyakarta, Indonesia).(***)
